The Biological Inner Bra is a modern approach to a natural-looking breast lift or breast reduction that is as gentle as possible. It combines two techniques, with the aim of lifting and repositioning the breast in the long term, and does so entirely without the use of foreign material.

Breast lift 2.0 in Dortmund: consultation, surgery and aftercare in one place

Your breast lift with the Biological Inner Bra takes place at the Westfalenklinik in Dortmund, from the first consultation to the final check-up. The specialist clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery has been working at the same location for 25 years and does not depend on external surgical centres, private-practice clinics or hospital departments: the operation, the nights after the procedure and the care afterwards are in the hands of the clinic's own team, with its own qualified staff looking after you at night. A personal contact accompanies you through all appointments.

The Westfalenklinik is located at Rosemeyerstraße 2–4, directly on the B1/A40 near the Signal Iduna Park. By car, leave the B1 at the Dortmund-Hombruch exit, turn right into Wittekindstraße and after 700 m turn right into Rosemeyerstraße; parking is on the building's parking deck directly in front of the entrance. From the main station you can reach the clinic with the U45 to Stadtgarten and the U42 to Theodor-Fliedner-Heim.

Breast lift 2.0: what characterises the Biological Inner Bra

Biological Inner Bra by Dr. Reifenrath: a modern breast lift with your own tissue

The female breast changes over the course of life through various factors such as pregnancies, major weight loss or the natural ageing process. These changes can affect the balance between the skin envelope and the underlying fatty and glandular tissue. A breast lift with the Biological Inner Bra technique can help to stabilise the volume and preserve the natural shape of the breast.

Consultation and planning of a breast lift with the Biological Inner Bra technique

Every woman and her breast are individual, which is why precise and individual planning of the breast lift is essential. Particularly when using the Biological Inner Bra technique, which uses your own tissue for internal support, a detailed discussion beforehand is necessary. In a detailed consultation with our doctors, your wishes and ideas are taken into account so that the treatment is tailored precisely to your needs.

The course of a breast lift with the Biological Inner Bra at the Westfalenklinik

The Biological Inner Bra technique is carried out under general anaesthesia to ensure that the procedure is as gentle as possible. After the operation, a short inpatient stay of usually 2 nights is necessary in order to monitor healing. The technique uses your own tissue to support the breast and maintain its shape in the long term, with the aim of a natural-looking and stable result.

After the operation, your body needs about 4 to 6 weeks to recover fully. During this time, sufficient rest is important in order to achieve the best possible result and to integrate the new tissue structures optimally.

Aims of the Biological Inner Bra in a breast lift

  • Your own tissue

The “Biological Inner Bra” uses your own tissue, which can lead to a more natural, softer and more aesthetic result, without the feel of implants or artificial materials.

  • Long-term stability

Your own tissue provides support and is intended to help maintain the shape of the breast in the long term. The technique is intended to help prevent the breast from sagging again or losing its shape over time.

  • Avoiding implants

Many women do not want silicone implants, whether because of health concerns, aesthetic preferences or personal reasons. The BIB is one way of carrying out a breast lift without resorting to artificial materials.

  • Individual adaptation

As the technique uses your own tissue, it can be better adapted to the specific needs of the patient, which can lead to a more individual result.

  • Less scarring

In some circumstances the technique can lead to fewer scars, as it does not rely on implants that would require additional incisions.

Biological Inner Bra: two breast lift and breast reduction techniques in one operation

With this modern technique, two previous breast lift/reduction techniques are combined into one technique for long-term lifting and repositioning, and this without the use of foreign material.

The internal bra (inner bra) has become a ubiquitous buzzword in breast surgery. Some use it to mean stabilising the lower pole of the breast with excess dermis (skin) that arises during the operation; others use absorbable meshes made of synthetic tissue, which are likewise intended to protect the lower pole of the breast from sinking.

How the Biological Inner Bra works

The surgical technique of the Biologic Rotational Inter Bra used by Dr. Reifenrath follows a different principle. In addition to the support from below, the breast is also reshaped and suspended cranially (at the top). To do this, unlike in the common techniques, the mammary gland is completely exposed or separated from the skin. The nipple, however, remains centrally on the breast. This is intended to preserve sensitivity and the ability to breastfeed. The now exposed gland can be reduced as required and then moved upwards like a biological breast implant. There, the breast is fixed cranially (at the top) to the fascia of the pectoral muscle. There it grows together with the layer until the sutures dissolve. Only then is the skin removed to fit, according to the resulting tension. The usual lower dermal fixations of the skin additionally hold the breast in shape and are intended to form a clearly defined inframammary fold.

Biological Inner Bra – a concept by Dr. med. Martin Reifenrath, specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery

Dr. Reifenrath looks back on 35 years of experience. In the consultation he goes through the surgical technique with you point by point, as well as what you can expect from the Biological Inner Bra treatment concept for the shape and durability of your breasts.

Methods compared

Classic lift or with internal support?

Both approaches lift the breast under general anaesthesia. The difference lies in the internal support made from the body’s own tissue.

Classic breast liftTightening the skin

Excess, slack skin is removed, the breast is reshaped and the nipple is repositioned if necessary. No additional internal support is created.

Frequently asked questions

What is behind the Biological Inner Bra technique?

Many patients want to understand exactly how the body’s own tissue is used to support and stabilise the breast. The technique uses breast tissue to create a natural support structure that is intended to keep the breast firm in the long term, without implants being necessary.

How does the Biological Inner Bra technique differ from a classic breast lift?

The BIB technique uses the body’s own tissue as an “inner bra” to support the breast and maintain its shape, whereas with classic breast lifts no additional internal support is created. We will discuss with you in the consultation how this can affect your result and its longevity.

How long does the result of a breast lift with the Biological Inner Bra technique last?

The technique aims to support the breast structure in the long term. The aim is a stable, natural-looking result with less loss of firmness over the years than with traditional procedures. How long a result lasts cannot be promised; even after the procedure, the breast changes, for example through pregnancies, weight loss or the natural ageing process.

Are there risks or complications when using the body’s own tissue in the Biological Inner Bra?

Like any operation, this procedure carries risks, such as swelling, bruising or infections. When the body’s own tissue is used, there is also the question of how well the tissue is integrated into the healing process and how scar tissue forms. Rejection reactions are generally not to be expected. We will inform you about the risks in detail in the consultation.

What is the healing process like and what aftercare is needed with the Biological Inner Bra?

After the procedure, your body usually needs 4 to 6 weeks of rest. When you can be active again, whether special compression garments are needed and how you can best support healing, we will discuss with you before and after the operation.

How long is the stay in the clinic after a breast lift with Biological Inner Bra?

You can usually leave the clinic one to two days after the operation.

What does a breast lift 2.0 cost in Dortmund?

The costs vary individually depending on the extent of the procedure and your starting situation. After your consultation at Westfalenklinik, you receive a treatment quote with no obligation. The prices are final prices including VAT, overnight stay, meals, follow-up treatments and anaesthesia. Financing is possible through our financing partner.
