Correction of the side profile of the nose in Dortmund: on Rosemeyerstraße for 25 years

The Westfalenklinik in Dortmund has been working at the same location in Rosemeyerstraße for 25 years. At the clinic’s Deutsches Nasenzentrum®, you receive advice on correcting the side profile of your nose, you are operated on, and you are cared for during one to two nights after the procedure. For this, the specialist clinic does not depend on external surgical centres or on clinics used by visiting surgeons. Anaesthesia is provided by anaesthetists who specialise in plastic and aesthetic surgery, and you come back to the same clinic for your follow-up appointments.

The clinic is located directly on the B1/A40, very close to the Signal Iduna Park. From the B1, take the Dortmund-Hombruch exit, turn right into Wittekindstraße and after 700 m turn right into Rosemeyerstraße; parking is on the parking deck directly in front of the entrance. Without a car, take the U45 from the main station to Stadtgarten and change there to the U42 to Theodor-Fliedner-Heim. You can read what else characterises the clinic under Why Westfalenklinik?; you are welcome to arrange your consultation directly.

This is why our patients decide on an adjustment of their nasal profile

  • Correction of a pronounced hump for a smoother and more harmonious profile
  • Improvement of the nasal proportions to match the rest of the face
  • Wish for a more symmetrical appearance by balancing asymmetries in the profile
  • Wish for a more aesthetically pleasing side profile

What is meant by an adjustment of the side profile of the nose?

Adjusting the side profile of the nose is a special form of rhinoplasty that aims to optimise the profile of the nose. Particularly often the aim is to remove a nasal hump, smooth the bridge of the nose or harmoniously adapt the proportions of the nose to the rest of the face. This procedure can offer both aesthetic and functional improvements by harmonising the symmetry and the overall appearance of the face.

What restrictions come with an adjustment of the side profile of the nose?

After a surgical adjustment of the side profile of the nose, temporary restrictions may occur. These include swelling, bruising and possible breathing difficulties in the first few days after the operation. During this time, it is important to avoid physical exertion and to follow the doctor’s instructions carefully in order to support the healing process and avoid complications.

Deutsches Nasenzentrum®: possible aims of a correction of the nose profile

  • Improvement of breathing function by straightening the nasal structure and correcting narrowings of the airways

  • Reduction of chronic pain or feelings of pressure, provided they are due to structural anomalies

  • Better air circulation in the nose, with the aim of preventing problems of the paranasal sinuses

  • Strengthening of the nasal structure in order to prevent a deterioration of nasal function

What treatment options are there for the nose profile?

There are various surgical approaches for optimising the side profile of the nose. These include removing a nasal hump, straightening the bridge of the nose, reducing or raising the height of the nose, and realigning the tip of the nose. These procedures can be combined individually in order to aim for a result that is suitable both aesthetically and functionally. Modern techniques aim to shape the nose so that it looks natural and harmonious in the face.

How does the treatment work for a surgical adjustment of the side profile of the nose?

The process begins with a detailed consultation in which the surgeon records the patient’s wishes and carries out a detailed analysis of the structure of the nose. On the day of the operation, which is usually carried out under general anaesthesia, the surgeon makes the necessary corrections. The procedure normally takes one to two hours. The operation is followed by a phase of healing and aftercare in which the results gradually stabilise and the final profile becomes visible.

Your timeline for the profile correction at Westfalenklinik

This is how the correction of the side profile of your nose proceeds at the Deutsches Nasenzentrum®:

  1. Step 1

    Beforehand

Consultation in Dortmund. We discuss your wishes and examine the structure of the nose; from this, the plan for your procedure emerges. You can book the appointment online.

  2. Step 2

    Day of surgery

The procedure. The operation usually takes place under general anaesthesia and normally takes one to two hours. A splint then stabilises the nose.

  3. Step 3

    The first few days

In the clinic. You stay one to two nights. Swelling, bruising and breathing difficulties are possible in the first few days; avoid physical exertion.

  4. Step 4

    Weeks 1 to 2

Plaster splint. You wear the plaster splint and avoid nicotine, sunbathing and sport; you wash your hair with your head bent forward.

  5. Step 5

    After about 14 days

Back to everyday life. The stitches are removed, and you are back out among people after one to two weeks. In most cases you are unfit for work for about 14 days.

  6. Step 6

    Up to week 6

No glasses. For the first six weeks after the correction, you do not wear glasses.

  7. Step 7

    After the swelling goes down

The profile. The result gradually stabilises; the final profile can only be assessed once the swelling has subsided.

What does the result of an adjustment of the side profile of the nose depend on?

The result of a surgical adjustment of the side profile of the nose depends largely on the procedure being planned and carried out by an experienced specialist. Besides appearance, functional benefits such as improved breathing can also be an aim of the procedure.

The final profile can only be assessed once the swelling has subsided.

What restrictions and risks are there with an adjustment of the side profile of the nose?

As with any operation, there are risks here too. Possible complications include infections, bleeding, scarring or undesirable results that could require a revision. Temporary swelling and bruising are normal and mostly subside within a few weeks. Careful aftercare is crucial in order to support the healing process and minimise risks.

What does a correction of the side profile of the nose cost in Dortmund? Costs and financing

The treatment prices are final prices including statutory VAT. No costs are added later for overnight stays, meals, follow-up treatments or the anaesthetist. Frequently asked questions

When does German statutory health insurance pay for a nose correction?

If the operation is necessary because of a functional disorder of the nose, private health insurance or Beihilfe (German civil service allowance) may cover part of the costs. This does not apply to the aesthetic part of the nose correction. Please discuss this with your private health insurance or Beihilfe. For people with statutory insurance, reimbursement by their German statutory health insurance fund is possible if there is a medical indication and the treatment takes place in our central clinic. You will receive further information in your personal consultation.

How painful is nose surgery and how long is the nose swollen?

Any pain that occurs can usually be treated well with accompanying medication. Slight swelling and haematomas under the eyes are possible, but they have usually subsided by the time the cast is removed.

How long is the stay in the clinic for a nose correction?

As a rule, you can leave the clinic one day after the correction. In a few exceptional cases you stay for a second night for observation. Smaller procedures can be done on an outpatient basis.

How should I behave straight after a nose correction, how long do I have to wear a cast and when can I return to sport?

In the first one to two weeks, wear a plaster splint applied straight after the correction, with an adhesive or acrylic dressing. Avoid nicotine, sunbathing and sport during this time. Wash your hair with your head bent forward. In the first six weeks after the nose correction you should also refrain from wearing glasses.

How long will I be signed off sick after nose surgery?

Naturally, this depends on which type of nose correction is necessary and advisable in your case. It makes a difference whether we merely perform a nasal tip correction, only straighten the nose or carry out a full nose correction. In most cases you are unfit for work for 14 days, in exceptional cases somewhat longer. Your treating doctor at Westfalenklinik can tell you how much time off work to expect in your case if healing goes well.

What does a correction of the side profile of the nose cost in Dortmund?

That depends on which approaches are combined and how extensive the procedure is. After your consultation at the Westfalenklinik you will receive a no-obligation treatment quote at final prices including overnight stay, meals, follow-up treatments and anaesthesia. Financing is possible through our financing partner.
