Permanent make-⁠up in Dortmund: consultation and treatment in one place

You receive your permanent make-up at the Westfalenklinik in Dortmund, from the first consultation through the pigmentation to the touch-up a few weeks later. The treatment is outpatient and, depending on the area of the face, takes about 1 to 2.5 hours. A personal contact person accompanies you through all appointments.

Get dressed, do your hair, day cream, done: the pigmentation does not smudge and lasts beyond the end of the working day and sport, even when swimming, in the sauna and on holiday.

We use colours tested and certified according to German standards from the brands Phi and Labina. No heavy metals are used; allergic reactions are rare but cannot be ruled out. Permanent make-up lasts a long time, but not for a lifetime like other tattoos. How strong the colour looks and how long it lasts varies with each skin type. On average, it lasts between 1 and 4 years.

What can I expect from the course of a permanent make-⁠up treatment at the Westfalenklinik?

This is how permanent make-up proceeds at the Westfalenklinik, from the consultation to the touch-up:

  1. Step 1

    Beforehand

    Consultation in Dortmund. In the consultation, we choose the colour and style, from very subtle and natural to a version that looks more strongly made-up, and discuss which medication you take. You can book your appointment online.

  2. Step 2

    Before the treatment

    Cleansing and disinfecting. Before we can treat the desired area of the face with permanent make-up, it is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected.

  3. Step 3

    1 to 2.5 hours

    The pigmentation. Using a tiny needle, the colour pigments are then introduced very carefully, as with a tattoo. The art of the treatment lies in implementing the style agreed with you with professional skill and craftsmanship, and in correctly judging the right depth for introducing the pigments under the skin. The more experienced your artist, the more individually she can respond to your particular wishes with permanent make-up.

  4. Step 4

    Straight afterwards

    The result. The result of permanent make-up can be seen straight after the treatment. Minor swelling or skin redness can occur in rare cases, but usually subsides after a few hours or days.

  5. Step 5

    After 4 to 6 weeks

    Touch-up. For lip pigmentation, the pigmentation is touched up again after 4 to 6 weeks. The colour is intensified and minor irregularities are corrected.

Which areas of the face can be treated with permanent make-⁠up?

The lips can be treated with lip pigmentation, the eyelid with a permanent lid line, and the eyebrows, from emphasis to reconstruction.

The duration of the treatment depends on the area of the face to be treated and the treatment desired. However, you can expect roughly the following treatment times: 60 minutes for lash line enhancement, about 120 minutes for an eyeliner, about 120 minutes for microblading or approx. 150 minutes for a complete lip pigmentation.

Before the pigmentation, we choose a colour that suits your natural skin tone, your age and your everyday style. We have very delicate, light and natural shades, but also stronger ones that look like lipstick. Next, the desired shape of the lips is pre-drawn. It can be designed quite naturally or fuller, curved and also more symmetrical. The pigmentation itself is touched up again after 4 to 6 weeks. The colour is intensified and minor irregularities are corrected. On request, the colour can then also be made slightly lighter or darker.

I have had herpes before. What do I need to bear in mind with permanent make-up?

If you have had a herpes outbreak before, it is important that you take precautions with suitable medication before and after the treatment. Otherwise there is a risk that the pigments worked into the skin migrate to other, unwanted areas and impair the result.

I take medication regularly. Is that a risk for me with a permanent make-up treatment?

It is important to know which medication you take, what for and in what dose. Anticoagulant medication in particular is an obstacle to a permanent make-up treatment. Please speak to your treating doctor about the extent to which temporarily stopping it is possible. We are also happy to consult our doctors at the Westfalenklinik in order to make the treatment as safe as possible.

I have already had a treatment with fillers. What is important to know?

If you have already had a wrinkle or lip treatment with fillers, for example hyaluronic acid, it is important that this treatment was at least 3 weeks ago before you can be treated with permanent make-up. A combination of filler injection and permanent make-up is possible and is frequently carried out at our clinic. What is important, however, is that the pigmentation with permanent make-up is done first and the filler injection, for example with hyaluronic acid, afterwards, after a waiting period of about 3 weeks.
