Nose tip correction in Dortmund: short distances at the Westfalenklinik

The correction of your nose tip takes place at the Deutsches Nasenzentrum® of the Westfalenklinik in Dortmund, from the first consultation to the final check-up. Depending on its extent, the procedure is possible as an outpatient or with one night in the clinic. Care afterwards is provided by the clinic’s own team, which does not depend on external surgical centres or hospital departments for this; anaesthesia is in the hands of anaesthetists who specialise in plastic and aesthetic surgery.

By public transport, you can reach the clinic from the main station with the U45 to Stadtgarten and then the U42 to Theodor-Fliedner-Heim. By car, Rosemeyerstraße 2–4 is directly on the B1/A40 near the Signal Iduna Park: Dortmund-Hombruch exit, right into Wittekindstraße and after 700 m right into Rosemeyerstraße; you park on the building’s parking deck. From Dortmund Airport it is about 12 km via the B1. Arrange your consultation at the Westfalenklinik.

Why our patients decide on a correction of their nose tip

  • Wish for a narrower or less bulbous nose tip for a more aesthetically pleasing face
  • Correction of asymmetries of the nose tip to make the face look more harmonious
  • Reduction of a drooping or overly broad nose tip for a finer and more defined appearance
  • Improvement of the proportions between the nose tip and the rest of the nose for a more balanced overall effect

What is meant by a nose tip correction?

Nose tip correction is a specialised surgical procedure that aims to optimise the shape and proportion of the nose tip in order to create a more harmonious overall appearance. Patients often perceive their nose tip as too broad, too bulbous, asymmetrical or drooping, which can disturb the aesthetic balance of the face. A nose tip correction can specifically correct these irregularities by reshaping, refining or raising the nose tip. This is not only about cosmetic improvements but also about a natural, aesthetic balance in the face.

What treatment options are there for the nose tip?

There are various surgical techniques for correcting the nose tip, depending on the specific needs and wishes of the patient. The most common treatment options include reducing the nose tip, raising it, correcting asymmetries and refining the nasal wings.

These techniques can be applied individually or in combination in order to aim for the desired aesthetic result. An experienced surgeon will choose the method that suits the patient’s anatomical conditions and aesthetic aims.

How does the treatment work for a nose tip correction?

The process of nose tip correction begins with a detailed consultation in which the surgeon records the patient’s individual wishes and expectations. A detailed examination of the structure of the nose and the facial features helps the surgeon to draw up a tailored surgical plan. On the day of the operation, which is usually carried out under local anaesthesia with sedation or under general anaesthesia, the surgeon makes precise adjustments to the nose tip. Depending on its complexity, the duration of the procedure can vary between one and two hours.

After the operation, the nose is often stabilised with a splint to secure the new shape and support healing. Patients usually remain under observation for a few hours before being discharged home. In the first few days after the operation, regular follow-up appointments are necessary to monitor the healing process and to detect possible complications early.

This is how the correction of your nose tip proceeds at the Westfalenklinik

The times apply to most patients; you will receive your own schedule in the consultation.

  1. Step 1

    Beforehand

Consultation in Dortmund. We discuss your wishes and expectations and examine the structure of the nose and the facial features. From this, your individual surgical plan emerges; you can book the appointment online.

  2. Step 2

    Day of surgery

The procedure. The operation usually takes place under local anaesthesia with sedation or under general anaesthesia and, depending on its extent, takes about one to two hours. A splint then secures the new shape.

  3. Step 3

    The first few days

Observation and check-ups. You stay for a few hours or one night for observation. Follow-up appointments take place in the first few days; keep your head raised and avoid physical exertion.

  4. Step 4

    Weeks 1 to 2

Plaster splint. You wear the plaster splint and avoid nicotine, sunbathing and sport; you wash your hair with your head bent forward.

  5. Step 5

    After about 14 days

Back to everyday life. The stitches are removed, and you are back out among people after one to two weeks. In most cases you are unfit for work for about 14 days.

  6. Step 6

    Up to week 6

No glasses. For the first six weeks after the correction, you do not wear glasses.

  7. Step 7

    After several months

The result. The final result is usually visible once the swelling has completely subsided.

What restrictions come with a nose tip correction?

As with any surgical procedure, temporary restrictions occur after a nose tip correction. These include swelling and bruising in the area of the nose and around the eyes, which are most pronounced in the first few days after the operation. The nose tip may react sensitively to touch for a while, and slight pain or a feeling of pressure may occur.

It is also possible that nasal breathing is restricted by swelling in the first few weeks after the operation. However, these symptoms are usually temporary and subside in the course of healing. During the healing phase, it is important to avoid physical exertion and to keep your head raised in order to minimise the swelling and support the healing process.

What does the result of a nose tip correction depend on?

The result of a nose tip correction depends largely on the procedure being carried out precisely and carefully by an experienced and specialised surgeon. Such a procedure can not only change the aesthetic appearance but also improve the function of the nose, particularly if breathing problems were previously caused by structural anomalies of the nose tip. The final result is usually fully visible after several months, once the swelling has completely subsided and the nose tip has taken on its final shape.

What restrictions and risks are there with a nose tip correction?

As with any surgical procedure, there are also potential risks and restrictions with a nose tip correction. The most common risks include infections, bleeding, scarring or undesirable aesthetic results, which in rare cases could require a revision. Temporary swelling, bruising and restricted nasal breathing are normal in the first few weeks after the operation. In rare cases, longer-lasting asymmetries or changes in skin sensitivity may occur. It is crucial that the patient follows the surgeon’s instructions on postoperative care carefully in order to support the healing process and minimise risks.

What does a nose tip correction cost in Dortmund? Prices and financing

How high the costs of a nose tip correction are in your case depends on the extent of the procedure and on which techniques are combined; more on the costs of rhinoplasty on the Rhinoplasty in Dortmund page. After your consultation at the Westfalenklinik you will receive a no-obligation treatment quote.

Treatment prices are final prices including statutory VAT: follow-up treatments, the costs of the anaesthetist and, if you stay overnight, accommodation and meals are not charged afterwards. If you wish, you can take out follow-up cost insurance against the costs of possible follow-up procedures, which we offer at cost. Financing is possible through our financing partner; more on this under Financing your treatment.

What should I look for in a doctor who is to operate on my nose tip?

Choosing the right surgeon is decisive for the success of a nose tip correction. Make sure that the surgeon has extensive experience in nasal surgery and specialises in rhinoplasty. A qualified specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery with a particular focus on nose corrections is a good choice. Check the doctor’s certifications and ask about their experience with the procedure in the consultation. A good surgeon takes time for a detailed consultation to discuss your wishes and concerns, set realistic expectations and explain the entire course of the operation clearly. Open and trusting communication is the key to ensuring that your wishes and expectations are taken into account.

At Deutsches Nasenzentrum® at Westfalenklinik in Dortmund, our team around Dr. med. Michael Bromba performs nose tip corrections with decades of experience and with care. Arrange your no-obligation appointment for a personal consultation.

Frequently asked questions

When does German statutory health insurance pay for a nose correction?

If the operation is necessary because of a functional disorder of the nose, private health insurance or Beihilfe (German civil service allowance) may cover part of the costs. This does not apply to the aesthetic part of the nose correction. Please discuss this with your private health insurance or Beihilfe. For people with statutory insurance, reimbursement by their German statutory health insurance fund is possible if there is a medical indication and the treatment takes place in our central clinic. You will receive further information in your personal consultation.

How painful is nose surgery and how long is the nose swollen?

Any pain that occurs can usually be treated well with accompanying medication. Slight swelling and haematomas under the eyes are possible, but they have usually subsided by the time the cast is removed.

How long is the stay in the clinic for a nose correction?

As a rule, you can leave the clinic one day after the correction. In a few exceptional cases you stay for a second night for observation. Smaller procedures can be done on an outpatient basis.

How should I behave straight after a nose correction, how long do I have to wear a cast and when can I return to sport?

In the first one to two weeks, wear a plaster splint applied straight after the correction, with an adhesive or acrylic dressing. Avoid nicotine, sunbathing and sport during this time. Wash your hair with your head bent forward. In the first six weeks after the nose correction you should also refrain from wearing glasses.

How long will I be signed off sick after nose surgery?

Naturally, this depends on which type of nose correction is necessary and advisable in your case. It makes a difference whether we merely perform a nasal tip correction, only straighten the nose or carry out a full nose correction. In most cases you are unfit for work for 14 days, in exceptional cases somewhat longer. Your treating doctor at Westfalenklinik can tell you how much time off work to expect in your case if healing goes well.

What does a nose tip correction cost in Dortmund?

We will give you the price for your procedure after the consultation at Westfalenklinik in a no-obligation treatment quote; it depends on the extent and the techniques combined. The prices are final prices including statutory VAT, follow-up treatments and anaesthesia. Financing is possible through our financing partner.
