Upper arm lift in Dortmund: consultation, procedure and aftercare in the same place

For your upper arm lift, you are at the Westfalenklinik in Dortmund from the first consultation to the final check-up. The specialist clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery has been working at the same location in Rosemeyerstraße for 25 years and does not depend on external surgical centres or private-bed clinics, neither for the operation nor for the care afterwards. You spend the night after the procedure in the clinic, looked after by our own state-registered staff trained in emergency medicine; a personal contact person accompanies you through all appointments.

You will find the Westfalenklinik at Rosemeyerstraße 2–4, directly on the B1/A40 in the immediate vicinity of the Signal Iduna Park. By car, leave the B1 at the Dortmund-Hombruch exit, turn right into Wittekindstraße and after 700 m right into Rosemeyerstraße; parking is on the building’s parking deck directly in front of the entrance. By public transport, take the U45 from the main station to Stadtgarten and then the U42 to Theodor-Fliedner-Heim.

Advancing age quickly takes its toll on the upper arms

Do you remember how carefree it was in the warm season to wander through the summer months strapless and almost uninhibited? For many, this carefree feeling of earlier years has passed because the body changes through internal and external influences. Often this process does not stop at the upper arms either. When the wish for lightness returns, an upper arm lift may be just the right decision.

The largest organ of the human body is our skin. It protects us from external influences and endures all the strain we put it through. Despite all kinds of creams and remedies, however, we cannot completely stop the ageing process. While there is a wide range of treatment options for the skin of the face, our arms are usually left behind. Nevertheless, the tissue on the arms also loses elasticity, the skin becomes loose, and what are popularly called “bingo wings” develop, which are aesthetically unflattering.

The ageing process and major weight loss are the main causes of sagging upper arms

But it is not only the ageing process that can affect the upper arms. Another reason for loose skin can, for example, be major weight loss. With rapid, excessive weight loss in the course of a radical diet, a bariatric surgical procedure or a problem pregnancy, the skin may no longer be able to retract completely. To an outside observer, the skin then begins to sag visibly. If exercise no longer leads to the desired success either, an upper arm lift can be an option.

Let our doctors at the Westfalenklinik in Dortmund give you comprehensive advice. Already at the first consultation, you discuss everything essential about your desired treatment with us. To give you a better picture of a possible later result, your treating doctor also draws the possible incision pattern on you.

As a rule, an upper arm lift takes about 1 to 2 hours and is carried out under general anaesthesia. If desired, it can also be combined directly with liposuction if fat deposits have accumulated in the areas to be tightened.

Aims of an upper arm lift

  • A firmer contour of the upper arms by removing excess skin
  • Slimmer arm circumference by reducing bothersome fatty tissue
  • More well-being, especially in the warm season
  • Regaining more freedom in your choice of clothing

How do the different upper arm lift methods work?

A bilateral upper arm lift takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and is carried out under general anaesthesia. As a first step, our doctors at the Westfalenklinik measure the skin and fatty tissue to be removed and mark the incisions. The incision pattern varies, but is always carried out with as little scarring as possible in order to achieve an aesthetic result.

Your timeline for the upper arm lift

This is how an upper arm lift proceeds at the Westfalenklinik, from the consultation to the end of compression:

  1. Step 1

    Beforehand

Consultation. At the first appointment you discuss everything essential about the treatment with us, and your doctor marks out the possible incision pattern for you. You can book your appointment online.

  2. Step 2

    Day of surgery

The procedure. Skin and fatty tissue are measured and the incisions are marked; the operation takes place under general anaesthesia. Afterwards you stay one night in the clinic; the compression garment is put on you during the operation itself.

  3. Step 3

    After about 1 week

Back among people. After about a week you are usually back out among people.

  4. Step 4

    Weeks 2 to 3

Stitch removal. The non-absorbable stitches are removed.

  5. Step 5

    Week 3 to 4

Go easy on your arms. Until then, avoid physical exertion with your arms.

  6. Step 6

    Weeks 4 to 6

Compression. You wear the compression garment for this long; it supports healing.

How should I behave after an upper arm lift?

To support the healing process, please wear a compression garment for the first 4 to 6 weeks, which is put on you during the operation to compress the skin and sutures. Avoid physical exertion with your arms for the first 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure. The non-absorbable stitches are removed after 2 to 3 weeks.

Are there risks for me with an upper arm lift?

Of course, every surgical procedure entails medical risks, accompanying effects and possibly also side effects. It is therefore particularly important that you receive comprehensive, personal and individual advice and medical information before making a decision. With an upper arm lift, for example, wound healing disorders, intolerances to accompanying medication or inflammation can occur. After a thorough assessment of your general state of health and taking your personal lifestyle into account, our doctors can, however, reduce such risks. We look forward to your visit and are here to support you with advice and help.

What does an upper arm lift in Dortmund cost? Costs and financing

The costs of an upper arm lift depend on the extent of the procedure. Every additional measure, for example liposuction on the upper arms, increases the complexity of the procedure and therefore the costs. As part of the consultation we prepare a no-obligation cost estimate for you.

The treatment prices of the Westfalenklinik are final prices including statutory VAT. No subsequent costs are added for overnight stay and meals, follow-up treatments, the anaesthetist or insurance. Financing is possible through our financing partner; more on this under Financing your treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Do visible scars result from an upper arm lift?

As a matter of principle, we work with as little scarring as possible. Our aim is to position necessary scars so that they are as inconspicuous as possible. This is the purpose of our targeted incision on the inner side of the upper arm. Consistent aftercare and scar treatment can also help to reduce the visibility of scars. Often, fine lines remain that fade over time. With certain arm movements, however, these may still stand out and be visible.

Can an upper arm lift be combined with liposuction?

Yes. If fat deposits have accumulated in the areas to be tightened, it is even advisable to combine the procedure with liposuction. Discuss this option with your treating doctor. We are happy to give you comprehensive information about the options.

How long does the result of an upper arm lift last?

The skin removed during the upper arm lift does not form again. However, the continuing ageing process and major weight fluctuations can affect the result over time.

What does an upper arm lift in Dortmund cost?

The costs depend on the extent of the procedure, for example on how much skin is removed and whether liposuction is also advisable. As part of your consultation at the Westfalenklinik you will receive a no-obligation cost estimate. The prices are final prices including overnight stay, meals, follow-up treatments and anaesthesia; financing is possible through our financing partner.
