How are hooded eyelids removed?

In an upper eyelid lift (removing hooded eyelids), after the eyelid has been measured precisely, a strip of excess skin and fatty tissue of the appropriate size is removed from the upper eyelid. The incision is made in the crease of the eyelid so that, after complete healing, the scar lies as inconspicuously as possible in the eyelid crease. By removing loose skin and muscle, the eye can appear larger.

Combining an upper eyelid lift: with a lower eyelid lift or facelift

    Beforehand

    Day of surgery

    Outpatient procedure. The upper eyelid lift takes about 45 to 60 minutes and is carried out under local anaesthesia. Afterwards you go home the same day.

    The first few days

    Cool well. The eyelids may still be a little swollen, and discolouration from bruising is also temporarily possible. Therefore cool the eyelids well.

  4. Step 4

    After the first week

    Check-up appointment. In the first week, the sutures are covered with plasters. At the check-up appointment, they are removed and the threads are pulled, if no absorbable threads were used.

  5. Step 5

    After 1 to 2 weeks

    Back among people. After about 1 to 2 weeks, you are usually back out among people.

  6. Step 6

    From week 4

    Sun and exercise. For at least 4 weeks you avoid sunbathing and sunbeds; exercise is possible again after 4 to 6 weeks.

What do I need to bear in mind after an upper eyelid lift?

After the upper eyelid lift, the eyelids may still be a little swollen. In some cases, a temporary discolouration from bruising may also occur. To help with this, you should cool the eyelids well.
